Welcome to the ValuewIT blog. Snoop around, learn about my life and make yourself comfortable. This blog was started at first as a technical exercise when an acquaintance asked if I had a blog. Uh, no. Why would I, a mother and part-time professional, have a blog, and if I did have a blog who would read it and why would they read it? Oh, and what is a blog?
Not one to be left behind, I jumped on the Internet and within hours had set-up a site and was blogging content. Easy enough. The blog works out well because I find that writing is less expensive than therapy and rather than call each and every one of my friends and repeat an entire situation, my blog is the perfect outlet for me to convey my frustrations to a mass group.
I constantly breach of my own stated values, and Value wIT is the net that captures many of these moments, like when I say that my family is the most important thing in my life, but instead of spending time with them on Saturday, I find myself sitting in traffic on the freeway in a quest to get to Pottery Barn and buy an outdoor rug for my terrace. ValuewIT exposes me, my friends and anyone that lets society tool them around and trick them into submission and obedience to a false set of values.
Do you want to know who I am? I’ll try to fill in some of the missing details:
• I am 39 years old.
• Live in Austin, Texas.
• Married to a sweet, super-duper smart man.
• Have four children (two little ones and two teenage step children).
• Do government affairs/public relations consulting work when it suits my schedule.
• Graduated from a woman’s college.
• Have various circles of friends/acquaintances who are wildly different from each other and have no idea that I associate with the “other” side.
• Busy, busy, busy – I’m neurotic and obsessive-compulsive (as if I really know the true meaning of those labels) and therefore accomplish a lot!
• Brownish, blondish, reddish hair, depending on the mood of my stylist or what looks good on the haircare isle at the grocery store.
• Tallish, 5’8” and 133 pounds, except when I’m 142 pounds.
• Like to run except I lost my favorite running shirt and am on strike until it can be located.
• Enjoy eating a tub of fat-free Cool Whip at one sitting.
Deeply personal: I’m not sure who I am. I was adopted at birth and think that if I could get a gander at my birth mother that all of life would be explained. It’s like a stork carried me far, far away from the beginning of my path and my whole life has been spent walking backward to find the starting point of the right road. If only I could get back to my original starting point and begin the walk down the right path…
Mysterious facts surrounding my birth: Born August 14, 1967, Augusta, Georgia. My adoptive parents lived in Aiken, South Carolina. The private adoption was handled by the law firm of Dufore & Dufore and all the legal papers and facts are tightly sealed. That is the absolute extent of my knowledge about my birth. I do not know anything about my birth parents, the circumstances of the adoption or the birth. I don't even know what time of day or night I was born. If you have any information about my birth, please contact me at bitsyparker@mac.com.
If you are an agent, I have the novel all ready and waiting.
